You may have worried and maybe you are saying “Is there any relationship between fishing and money-making skills?” I cannot say it is a scientific research but I would like to share my personal fishing and business experiences.
I love fishing to begin with. I always wanted to become a professional fisherman. We moved to beautiful Houston, Texas in July 2016. We live about 50 miles away from the Gulf of Mexico. There are many great places for fishing in this area. In the Spring of 2017, I agreed with one of my friends to go fishing. We did not know what to do, where to go, what kind of tools we need. We purchased a Fishing License and other tools on our way to fishing (spent 2 hours in the market). We called another friend to get suggestions about which place is good for fishing. Finally, we reached to fishing place around noon. Next step was setting up the fishing rod: I did not know, my friend did not know neither. We tried to learn it from YouTube videos. It worked OK. Did we catch anything? NO, nothing for 2-3 hours. Then some other fishermen came and they caught 5-10 fishes in 30 minutes. I was a little upset. We came back home without any fish.
I learnt a life lesson from my first fishing experience. I underestimated fishing and it was my biggest mistake. I said to myself “I need to learn fishing” and watched lots of videos about fishing. Still, I did not quit. I continued going to fishing even though we could not catch anything.
One sunny weekend, we went to Jetty Park, Freeport, TX. There were many people fishing. We tried many times, but there were not even a single bite. We stayed by one fisherman. He was catching and releasing fishes. I was disappointed as I and he were fishing next to one another and I still could not catch anything but he… He gave us 10-15 fishes. I asked him what he was using as bait and how he was fishing. He gladly showed and explained his techniques. Those lessons were more valuable for me than fish. I learnt the most important fishing techniques from him.
One of the best parts of fishing is taking pictures and sharing them with my friends. Many of them were excited and asked me to go fishing together. Many fishermen like going fishing with partners. I took many friends to fish. I realized that many of them came to fishing without a fishing rod and fishing tools such as weight, hook, bait, etc. Of course, some of them messed up my fishing rod or fishing reel. Some of them were blaming me or fishing itself when we could not catch anything. It did not take me long to realize that they were one-time partners only. I looked for real partners to enjoy morning, evening and night fishing. I found them and enjoyed fishing many times with my fishing friends. Fishermen know that fishing is having fun, enjoying time, being patient, getting prepared, having all tools, using correct bait, etc.
So, what is the relationship between fishing and making money?
I saw many people looking for a job, extra-income, making money, etc. There are also many successful people (including many millionaires) who would like to help others in this matter. Successful people share their secrets without hesitation. Most of them believe that Knowledge increases by sharing it with others. Unfortunately, there are many people who would like to make money without investment, proper tools, proper education, without being patient, and without trying.
Like my fishing experience, people without a fishing rod, fishing tools and bait, will never become a fisherman and will enjoy fishing. Learning how to make money is not easier than learning fishing. I learned both of them by taking continuous education, following great leaders and partners, practicing, failing, but not giving up, being patient. I shared my fishing experience with you and I will be happy to share my business experiences with whoever wants to learn.
