You might have had many teachers when you were at school. If you were lucky, you had some great teachers who impacted your life. So, what made them special? I would like to share some of them as an Educator.
I had many teachers, and I have worked with many teachers in my career. I learned that there are many things that matter to be a good teacher: how good you know your content, how good you deliver instruction, how you manage the class. The more important thing is teaching the students how to achieve. I would like to give some examples to explain what I mean.
It is good to teach discipline to the kids, however, teaching self-discipline is better.
It is good to teach reading skills, however, making kids love reading is better.
It is good to teach how to solve the problems, however, building problem-solving skills is better.
It is good to teach new things, however, teaching how to learn new things through self-study skills is better.
The other aspects of life
We like the doctors that treat us, however, we should love even more the doctors who show us how to prevent disease. Let’s take a daily example: COVID-19. We like doctors who help us to recover from corona virus, however, we should love even more those doctors if they can prevent this virus. We may like the medicines that assist us to overcome our illness, however, we should love the products that help us stay healthy.
It is good to learn sports from a professional sportsman/sportswoman; it is better to learn sports from a coach that will help you to become a professional sportsman/sportswoman.
We will like if someone catches 10 fishes and gives us them for free, however, we should love more if that person teaches us how to fish.
We will be happy if someone gives us money, however, we should be even joyful if someone teaches us how to make money! We will like it if someone offers a job to us, however, we should love if someone teaches us how to become self-employed.
It is good to have a leader that will make us happy, it is better to have someone who helps you to become a great leader.
As you see, one of the most important skills to succeed in learning to achieve. When people are young they may not see the importance. As we get older, we understand how some people impacted our life, how some people waste our time. But do not worry, it is never late. Find leaders with vision and learn from them how to achieve SUCCESS!
